Also known as Fairmount Park, this residential neighborhood extends along Fauntelroy as it winds through West Seattle from Morgan Junction to the West Seattle Bridge. A giant soccer field and playground, adjacent to the newly constructed Fairmount Park elementary, are popular gathering places for residents around the city. While single-family homes and townhomes are the norm for much of the district, Avalon Way between 35th and Luna Park is home to many luxurious high-rise apartment and condo buildings. Transportation moves smoothly through Fairmount Park; King County Metro riders can easily catch local and RapidRide lines along 35th and Fauntelroy. The Whittaker, a new mixed use residential and retail complex anchored by Whole Foods Market is currently under construction at Fauntelroy and Edmunds.
